About Aoife
Hi, I'm Aoife. I'm 23 and in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (Primary) at Sydney Uni. Right now I'm on my last prac at a school in Marrickville, in a year 2 classroom, so five days a week I'm already doing the thing you would be hiring me for, just with 24 of them instead of two.
Before uni and all the way through it I nannied casually for two Inner West families. The first was three afternoons a week for two years straight, two boys who were 4 and 7 when I started. School pickup, afternoon tea, the reading log, the swimming lesson run, dinner, every Monday Wednesday Thursday. The second family I still do the odd weekend for. Five years all up.
What I'm actually good at, in order:
Homework without a fight. I know what year 1 to year 6 work should look like and roughly how long it should take. If it's taking an hour and it shouldn't be, I'll stop it and tell you why, rather than sit there while everyone gets upset.
The 4pm to 7pm stretch. That's the hard part of the day and it goes better with a plan. Dinner will be cooked and eaten, not left in the sink for you.
Kids who are bored and kids who are behind. Both of them look like bad behaviour from across the room and they need opposite things.
Credentials: current WWCC, HLTAID012 first aid and CPR, full licence and my own car with a booster in the boot if you need activity runs. References from both families, I can pass on numbers.
Two things to know before you book. Prac runs until 3.30 so I can't start before 4 on weekdays, and Fridays I'm out completely, that's my one night. I'd also much rather do a short meet first so your kids have seen my face before the night you actually go out. Sorry, that was a lot of words. I'm told I do that.

Piano teacher, patient with the ones who won't sit still
I teach piano to about a dozen kids, which mostly means I'm very good at being patient with someone who really does not want to be doing the thing. Happy to do after school through to bedtime. I'll help with homework, I'll cook something basic (pasta, eggs on toast, that tier), and I'll do the dishes after. Erskineville, Newtown and Alexandria are all walkable for me.
