About Despina
I am Despina. I came from Kalamata when I was twenty two years old and I have lived in the same house in Croydon Park since 1986. I raised four children here. They are all grown now. Two are teachers, one is a nurse, and one is still deciding what he wants to be and he is thirty four years old.
Now I have six grandchildren and three of them live in Melbourne, which is too far away. So I have time, and I have empty hands, and this is why I am writing here.
I want to be honest with you about what I can do and what I cannot do. I am not fast on my feet like a young girl. I do not run in the park and I cannot chase a three year old who has decided to go the other way. My knees are finished.
What I can do is sit with a baby for hours and hours. Feed them, change them, sing to them, walk up and down the hallway with them on my shoulder until they go to sleep. I have done this maybe ten thousand times. A baby who cries a lot does not worry me. I had one of my own who cried for eight months and we both survived it.
I cook proper food. If you want me to make something for the family while the baby is sleeping, I will do it and I will not charge you extra. It is nothing for me.
I have my check from the government and my first aid certificate. My daughter helped me to do them both on the computer.
Daytime only please. I do not drive so I take the bus, and after dark my son does not like this, and anyway I am in my bed by nine o'clock.
Greek or English, whichever you like. My English is still not perfect after all these years, but no child has ever had a problem to understand me.
