About Lifen
Dear Parents,
My name is Lifen. I was a primary school teacher in Shanghai for eleven years, Grade 2 and Grade 3, before my family moved to Sydney in 2019. Since then I have looked after children in Rhodes, Concord West and Liberty Grove.
I would like to explain how I work, so you can decide if I am suitable for your family. When I arrive, our afternoon has an order:
Homework first, before any screen. Not because I am unkind. It is because a tired child at seven o'clock cannot write one sentence, and then everybody in the house is upset.
Fruit.
Play, draw, read, or go downstairs to the playground if the weather is good.
I am strict about screen time. I am not strict about noise, or mess on the table, or a child who is having a bad day and does not want to talk to me. There is a difference between these things and children understand it very fast.
I can teach Mandarin reading and writing at the same time. Some families ask me for this, some families prefer only English at home. Both are correct. Please just tell me which one you want, I will not be offended.
About me. My Working With Children Check is current and I have my First Aid certificate. I do not drive. I live in the apartments near the ferry wharf and I walk or take the bus, so please think about the distance before you contact me.
My own son is fifteen. He was six when we came here and he could not say one full sentence in English. So I understand very well how a child feels when everything around them is new.
