I taught kindergarten and Year 1 for thirty years around the Inner West and retired in 2024. I look after my grandchildren on Mondays and have time on my hands the rest of the week.
I'm old-fashioned in the ways that matter. I turn up early. The television goes off for dinner. Children get read to before lights out, properly, with voices.
And I'm relaxed about the rest. Thirty years of kindergarten teaches you the difference between naughtiness and tiredness, and that most of both are fixed with food.
Happy to do school pickups. I know most of the gates around Haberfield and Summer Hill from three decades of bus duty. I don't drive at night any more, so for evening bookings you're welcome to run me home, or I'll book a taxi.
Daytimes and school holidays suit me best. I've held a Working With Children Check continuously since they were introduced, and my first aid is current again because my daughter insisted.
