Maternity nurse, newborns and the whole first year
About Rhiannon
Registered nurse, twenty years. The first eight were general medical and emergency. The last twelve have been maternity and special care nursery, which is where I have stayed because it suits me.
Alongside my shifts I do private newborn support, and I take evening babysitting for families who have a baby in the house and want someone who is not going to panic.
Feeding, settling, reflux, tongue tie, the cluster feeding that starts at 4pm every single day for a fortnight, the four month regression, a mother who has not slept properly since March. None of it worries me and very little of it surprises me. If you are breastfeeding and you want three hours out, I can settle the baby and give a bottle of whatever you have expressed, and I will not have opinions about how you feed your child.
I also sit while parents sleep. Some families book me from 9pm to 2am so that somebody else is doing the wake ups. It is often the most useful thing I do all week.
Older siblings are welcome. I have three teenagers of my own, so a six year old refusing to go to bed is not going to be the hardest part of my day.
$50 an hour for under ones. First aid and CPR come with my registration, WWCC current. I work rotating shifts, so please ask before you assume I am free.
