About Tamsin
Twenty years as a nanny, first in London and then here, and for the past three I have run placements at a nanny agency in the eastern suburbs. I still take a few bookings a month because I miss the actual work, and because it keeps me honest when I am sitting across from a nanny telling her what the job is like.
Where I have worked:
2003 to 2008, London, two families, children aged 3 to 11. Live in for the first, daily for the second.
2008 to 2014, Sydney, one family, three children from newborn up to primary school.
2014 to 2017, night nannying and maternity work, mostly newborns on six week to six month contracts.
2017 to 2023, one family in Hunters Hill, two boys aged 11 and 13 when I started, until the younger one finished school.
So, newborns through to teenagers, and the hard end of it as well as the easy end. I have worked in split households where the handover was tense, with a child on overnight tube feeds, and with a family going through a death in the middle of it all. None of that is a story I will be telling at your kitchen table, but you should know it is in the background.
What I am not is spontaneous. I am rarely free at short notice and I will not say yes to something I am not certain I can do. Book me a fortnight out and I am usually good for it. I am away the last two weeks of December.
Full licence, own car, first aid current. Happy to talk on the phone before we arrange anything, I am much better on the phone than I am in messages.

Vet nurse, free on my rostered days off
I'm a vet nurse at a small animal clinic in Leichhardt and I sit on my days off. Six years of holding wriggling animals still has made me unreasonably good at getting medicine into someone who does not want it, which I gather is half the job with a sick five year old. Pets obviously fine. I've had my sister's two (4 and 7) since they were born, so I know the routine end of it as well, dinner, bath

School crossing supervisor, evenings and weekends
I do the school crossing on Darling St mornings and afternoons, and I walk dogs in between. Twenty odd years of knowing every kid in the street by name. Evenings and weekends are free. First aid through the council, full licence, and I'm very happy in a house with dogs.
