My husband and I predominately work from home. We’re a busy working professional couple looking for a reliable, caring and energetic nanny/babysitter to look after our active 1-year-old boy every Thursday and Friday starting early mornings, negotiable for the right fit.

He’s a happy, curious and energetic little boy, so we’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with young children and is comfortable keeping him engaged with play, reading, walks and age-appropriate activities.

What we’re looking for:

* Available every Thursday and Friday from 8:00 AM
* Experience caring for babies/toddlers
* Warm, patient, attentive and energetic
* Reliable and punctual, particularly with the early starts
* Comfortable with feeding, nappy changes, naps and his usual daily routine
* Current First Aid/CPR and references preferred

We’re hoping to find someone long-term who can become a familiar and trusted person in his routine.

If you’re interested, please send me a message with a little about yourself, your experience, availability and expected hourly rate.

Every babysitting and nanny job in The Rocks

Questions babysitters and nannies ask

Do I need a Working With Children Check to babysit?

In New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, not for casual, privately arranged babysitting in a family's own home. Queensland does require one for any paid babysitting. If you work as a nanny, au pair, or tutor, meaning regular ongoing care rather than the occasional evening, you do need one, and the parent is expected to verify it. What it costs depends on the state: $112 in NSW for five years, and from $87 to $145 elsewhere. Where the line falls in NSW. How to become a babysitter in Australia covers the start.

How do I get verified?

Opt in from your profile once you have listed. You confirm a government photo ID with a matching selfie through Didit, our identity provider, which takes about two minutes, and give us your legal name, date of birth, and check number (and, for a Queensland blue card, its issue number). We then check your status with the register that issued it ourselves, usually within 48 hours. Today we can check clearances issued in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. If it comes back cleared and the details match your ID, your badge goes live with the month we checked. It is free. Exactly what we check.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Listing is free, verification is free, and there is no commission on what you earn. Babysitters and nannies stay free permanently, and families do not pay anything either. Why the site is free.

How much should I charge in The Rocks?

Babysitters and nannies already listed in The Rocks are asking between $15 and $75 an hour, across 219 profiles that state a rate. That is what families here are seeing, so it is a reasonable place to pitch yourself. Put a rate on your profile. Parents filter by it, and a profile without one is the easy one to skip. What moves a babysitting rate. How much to charge for babysitting is for when you are the one saying the number.

How do families get in touch?

Through messages on the site. Your profile shows your first name and last initial, your suburb, and your rate and availability. It never shows your address, phone number, or email. You decide what to share once you have talked to someone, and you can block anyone.
