Do I have to check my nanny's Working With Children Check?
Yes. You are the one expected to see the card, because there is no employer to hand that to. Ask to see the blue card, then check it with the Blue Card Services validator before the first day: it takes the name as it appears on the card, the card number, the issue number and the expiry date. It is free and takes about two minutes. The validator answers from a record refreshed overnight rather than a live register, so what comes back is as current as last night.
