I've got about 3 years of childcare experience, newborns all the way up to 11 year olds. I did part time newborn care for a baby girl from when she was 8 weeks old until she was 19 months, so feeding, settling, sleep routines, nappy changes, I've done all of it heaps of times. I also did after school care for two boys, bedtime, dinner, homework, all that, and even helped with potty training one of them. Honestly I don't really have a favourite age group, I love babies but I also love how funny and chatty older kids get, they're just different kinds of fun.

I like keeping the day calm and predictable, sticking to routines for meals, naps and bedtime so kids know what to expect. I try to minimise screen time as much as possible and only really use it if parents specifically ask me to, I'd much rather actually get down and do something with them, whether that's reading, craft, getting outside or just being a bit silly. Patience is really important to me, and so is being able to calm a kid down and de-escalate things when emotions get a bit heightened.
