Babysitters in Barwon Heads

Not enough babysitters near Barwon Heads have published a rate yet for us to give a local range, and we would rather say that than make one up. Across Sydney, casual babysitting generally runs between $25 and $40 an hour. Agree the rate before the first booking. We never take a cut, so what you agree is what the babysitter is paid. What moves a babysitting rate.

3 of the 3 babysitters and nannies near Barwon Heads say they want regular ongoing work. Most people use the two words for the same person, so the two lists overlap. The difference that matters is the shape of the arrangement, not the job title. A nanny needs a Working With Children Check and you are the one expected to verify it, which is not true of a casual babysitter. Nannies in Barwon Heads lists the ones who said yes.

For one child, almost never. Centre-based day care is charged per child and drops again with the Child Care Subsidy, while a nanny you hire privately is paid in full and charges for the household rather than per child. The picture changes with more children: at two or three children the nanny rate does not move, so it pulls level or ahead before the subsidy, and where it lands after depends on your own subsidy rate and on the hourly cap. How much a nanny costs, and what sits on top of the rate.

It depends on how the work is arranged. Victoria’s Act counts babysitting arranged by a commercial agency as child-related work, and a private arrangement a family makes directly with a sitter is not on that list. Nannies and in-home carers are on it. Where a Check is needed, the parent is the one expected to see it. You can ask any babysitter for their family name and card number and check it yourself for free with Service Victoria. It takes about two minutes.

The badge means we checked their ID and their WWCC with Service Victoria ourselves, not that they ticked a box.We do not check references, first aid certificates, or years of experience. Those sit on a profile as the babysitter’s own claim, and are labelled that way. The full list of what we check. The questions to ask a babysitter cover the rest.
