Nannies in Rockingham (WA)

In everyday use, not much — most people say babysitter for both. The line that matters is regularity rather than hours: occasional evenings are babysitting, while the same days each week is nanny work, whatever anyone calls it. That matters for one reason. In WA nanny work is the side of that line likelier to need a WWC Check, and you as the parent are the one expected to see it.

Not enough nannies near Rockingham (WA) have published a rate for us to give a local range, and we would rather say that than make one up. Across Sydney, most nannies ask between $30 and $45 an hour. Agree the rate, the hours, and what happens when plans change before the first day, in writing. What moves an hourly rate. How much a nanny costs covers the range.

No. The Child Care Subsidy is only paid for care at an approved child care service, and a nanny you hire yourself is not one. The single route to a subsidised educator in your own home is In Home Care, and it is narrow: you have to be eligible for the subsidy, show that no other approved care is available or suitable, and meet at least one of non-standard or variable hours, geographic isolation, or complex needs. Families apply through their state's In Home Care Support Agency, the educator comes from an approved provider, and the hours are charged per family instead of per child. Yes. For regular ongoing care the duty to verify sits with you, because there is no employer to hand it to. Ask for their WWC Check before the first day. You can check it yourself for free with the WWC Screening Unit. It takes about two minutes.

The badge means we checked their ID and their WWC Check with the WWC Screening Unit ourselves, not that they ticked a box. It is the check you would run yourself, already done once. A check is only true on the day it is run, so for ongoing care run your own as well: it is free with the WWC Screening Unit and takes about two minutes. We do not check references, first aid certificates, or claimed experience. Those sit on a profile as the nanny’s own statement, labelled that way. The full list of what we check. The questions to ask a babysitter cover the rest.

Largely the same people. 2 of the 5 babysitters and nannies near Rockingham (WA) said they want regular work, and one person can want both, so a profile can appear on both pages. This one leaves out the ones who only want the occasional evening. Babysitters and nannies near Rockingham (WA).

Yes, and a live-in nanny is almost always an employee, covered by the Miscellaneous Award. From 1 July 2026 the award's adult minimum for daytime weekday hours is $25.74 an hour employed permanently or $32.18 casually, more outside those hours, and superannuation is owed once someone works more than 30 hours in a week. A room and meals are not a substitute for wages: deducting board from pay needs their written authorisation and has to be principally for their benefit. Neither. We are an introduction service: you find each other here and everything after that is between the two of you, including the rate, the hours, tax, and insurance. We take no commission and never touch a payment, so what you agree is what they are paid. Why the site is free. How to hire a nanny walks it from the ad to the first day.
