Ask for their family name and card number, and check it with the Service Victoria status checker before the first day. It is free and takes about two minutes. Victoria does not write to you afterwards, so the answer is true on the day you run it.

The badge means we checked their ID and their WWCC with Service Victoria ourselves, not that they ticked a box. It is the check you would run yourself, already done once.
